Aquinas 4/41 defeated Mount Scopus 4/10
|
An outstanding second game from the girls. We put Mt Scopus under pressure with some fantastic tight bowling, and wickets at crucial moments ensured our run chase was manageable. We saw some significant strides in our batting, stepping out to meet the ball and improving our running between wickets. Still a long way to go, but the progress is fantastic to see each training session and match!

Great team effort today. Plenty of run and support for each other. The girls were strong in defence, repelling multiple attacks and then clearing the ball forward allowing us to set up opportunities to strike. The team really came together today and should be extremely proud of their efforts.

It was a change in environment for the girls today, being on an outdoor court and windy weather. This did not deter them and they adapted well. After the first quarter, it was clear that they were going to dominate this game. They then demonstrated how versatile they were once playing out of their usual positions. Well done girls.

The boys played really well today. The batting innings was really stable and they kept good momentum throughout the innings. The major thing today was the boys ability to bowl nice and full which made it difficult for Mt. Scopus batsmen to score quickly. Well done boys.

A clinical performance by the boys today, who are improving each week which is the most promising thing. A strong defensive presence meant not a lot of work for our goal keeper. A strong start to the season

A great win for the boys after a slow start, we are really improving and it showed as we conversed 1 point in the last 3 quarters. Each quarter we seem to be improving and I can see great growth and potential still to come.

The competition was tight with only two bowls making the difference to get us over the line. This was our first win of the season and Luther鈥檚 first loss. With two more rounds before the final we still have a winning chance. Keep-up the great bowling, girls!

The score definitely didn鈥檛 reflect the play of the game. Plenty of attacks were made by both teams with the defences put to the test. As per last week the girls continued to run for each other and really gel as a team. Even with the game seemingly out of reach, the girls continued to power forward and score a much deserved goal.

Luther was a strong opponent today. They rattled us in the first quarter, which led to mistakes that we wouldn鈥檛 usually make. The girls put up a great fight and we started to see our usual play from the second quarter. Unfortunately, Luther鈥檚 lead was too big but well done to the Aquinas girls for fighting until the end.

In our second game of the season, we did improve on our previous performance. We still need to get the 鈥渇eel鈥 on how hard we need to roll the bowl each time as we missed many opportunities to score points when there was an easy chance to win the end.

Boys were terrific again today in the batting innings, really intelligent batting and only the loss of one wicket was the real difference. Our bowlers were fairly consistent and did not give the Luther batsmen much room to free the arms. Our fielding is an area of improvement and will be important when we come up against Mt Lilydale.

The boys have been largely unchallenged this season but came against a strong team with half of our opposition playing outside of school. The boys worked well but fell into a few traps with our defence. A great test but onwards to the finals!
